Kal Tire Latam opens the way to the future with Microsoft Dynamics 365 solutions
Kal Tire is a Canadian-owned company founded by Thomas J. Foord in 1953 in Vernon, British Columbia. Its name is a tribute to the famous Lake Kalamalka, whose nickname is "the lake of a thousand colors". The company's businesses are focused on the sale and provision of services related to tires for motor vehicles. The organization is a leader in supplying supplies for the mining extraction business and is present in more than 150 deposits around the world.
Currently, the Canadian corporation has more than 250 stores and employs more than 6,500 thousand employees around the world. Since the second half of the 20th century, Kal Tire has expanded its operations to different countries in Latin America, Europe, Africa and Australia.
In 2019, Kal Tire took on the challenge of implementing an ERP system in Latin America. Its purpose was to generate detailed information on the productivity of its different operations in Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Ecuador, Colombia and Chile. To achieve this goal, Microsoft became the company of choice for its data management transformation.

To optimize the flow of information in its operation, Kal Tire opted for Dynamics 365 for Finance & Operations and Power BI solutions. Between the months of August (2019) and January (2020), the company implemented the new ERP tool, collaborating with ATX Business Solutions -Microsoft's 'Gold Partner' partner- for care and support services in the implementation of the solutions business.
The joint effort and the implementation of Microsoft solutions in record time resulted in an update and fusion of information that finally generated an online data extraction platform. These efforts add even more value to Kal Tire's work dynamics, supplying its demand for access to the different types of information stored in its databases.
Continuity during the pandemic
According to the Administration & Finance Manager of Kal Tire Chile, Héctor Bravo Vásquez, the use of Dynamics 365 and Power BI has given remarkable results in terms of productivity and customer service. He points out that Microsoft systems allow reports to be produced in less time and with strategic information in real time. This has become relevant for decision making. “The benefits are tangible since March 2020. Even in the pandemic period, Kal Tire has been able to maintain normal operations,” says Bravo.
Carlos Madrid Valencia, Kal Tire Mexico Finance Manager, explains: “Using Dynamics 365 allows clear and immediate visibility of the company's economic operations, so supervision becomes more efficient. Our learning has been that this reality has held even during times of COVID-19. Our productivity as a financial and operational area has definitely increased, despite being in the midst of a global pandemic.”

The expansion of the project
Looking ahead, Kal Tire estimates that within two years it will see a financial return on its technology investment. Likewise, it is mentioned that the positive impact will cover all levels of its operation: from administrative and commercial sectors, to productive and operational sectors.
The successful implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance & Operations - and its integration with Power BI - has generated impact and transformation for Kal Tire.
